DNP, FNP, PMHNP
My name is Susan Sanders. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). I have a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) specializing in Psychiatry and Family Practice, and a Masters degree in Nursing Leadership and Education. I have many years of experience caring for people of all ages and have worked in a variety of clinical settings. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I spent the majority of my nursing career at Indiana University Medical Center and affiliated Riley Hospital for Children.
I have always been interested in psychology which was my minor as an undergraduate nursing student at Anderson University, and Indiana University School of Nursing. My Doctoral work and Master’s thesis focused on the issue of domestic abuse, and I am a Motivational Speaker for survivors. I also provide education on the characteristics of domestic abuse to other providers, organizations, shelters, schools, healthcare entities, and members of the community.
My philosophy of practice is one of servanthood. I also believe in providing holistic care for the mind, body, and spirit that is tailored to each person’s individualized healthcare issues. I am educated, trained, and qualified to diagnose, prescribe medications, order tests and procedures, educate, and provide care to people of all ages.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family. We enjoy dining out, attending live music events, and movies. I also enjoy spending time with my three dogs who keep me busy and entertained. I am an avid reader and have a home overflowing with books. My other hobbies include genealogy and scrapbooking.
I look forward to meeting and working with you.
